It is said that in the days of old when the gods were mere babes, all raspberries were white. Legend claims that the nymph Ida was foraging for berries to calm the crying baby Zeus. During her berry hunt she was scratched by the bramble thorns of the raspberry bush and her blood fell upon the white berries, turning them ruby red.
